I agree. Rare <Gold> items are ten times harder to get then greens. Just farm Grenth's Footprint with a 2 man team. You'll see greens drop usually with 2 people on a 4 kill droprate.

Some Greens are rare and some are not.
Same could be said about Golds. Gold weapons with perfect stats would be considered rare. You will tend to see a lot of golds but with random low stats.
Depends how you look at it.

There are rare gold weapons too, Like today I got a drop in UW A Gold Max Righteous Maul with a req of 8...rarest hammer in the game, and low as hell req...considered rare as hell. By the way if anyone knows how much one of these will go for unidentiofied i would appreciate it.

The only ones claiming greens are rare are the idiots trying to get 3X market value for the junk that comes from Grenths Footprint area. Even the FA drops are getting a lot more common.
The only greens I use are the ele staves, they're cheap as hell, can get all 4 for less than the price of 1 +5 head and 20% enchant wrap. I also use the Malinon Shield. It's ugly as hell, but the stats are awesome for 40K.
I actually saw one moron trying to sell the bludeoner for 80K a couple days ago. We laughed him out of Droks.
Can't say the righteous maul is the rarest. I've seen a lot more of those than twin hammers, or even mursaat hammers.
Plus, very few even use hammers. I've dumped a lot of very good hammers at the merchant just because I don't want to waste time and inventory space carrying them around or trying to sell them.

A gold with the same stats as a green will usually go for more. A green can be get in a known place. After that it is just luck. Also, golds can have a lower req. All greens have 9 req if im not mistaken, while golds can go lower. This boosts the price and the rarity.

I'm always amazed by this. Not to flame Xorn, as he's right, but what kind of mentality does one have to have to want to pay more for the exact same item when the stats are identical?
Vanity. The Guild Wars economy is driven purely by vanity. Amazing.

You just now realized this? Please tell me that was sarcasm and you've know all along? I have so many "nice" or "Uber" items but they're in such "common" skins it barely fetches the same price the same item wood under a different graphic

Dont forget that Golds can also be moded to better suit your playing style. For example the Razorstone is a SWEET looking axe, with very nice stats. But a Gold Sephis axe +15%>50 is much better because you can then mod it however you like, put vamp on it, furious, sundering, cruel, whatever. As well as you could put HP +30 or Armor +5 etc.

Golds are rare, green are unique, gold are a lot more rare to get ahold of and find of a particular than are greens (even with the reduced drop rate).

Greens are farmable in one location, but golds drop everywhere. However a perfect gold is infinately rarer than a green simply because greens are farmable.

Very good. And yes, the kill to drop ratio seems a steady 4-5 named kills per green drop with a 1 W/Mo and a trapping Ranger...just FYI =)

ehh no...
anyways
greens are no comparison to golds.
yes some greens will sell for more than some golds, but no green item is valued at a mil+
gold items can hit that mark and surpass it...
greens cant and wont.
no GREEN it will be 20 mil+ like a GOLD 15^50 req 8 crystalline..
just my input..

It's color discrimination. I've had people refuse to buy my purples and blues that was infinitely better than what they were using simply because it wasn't gold.

Everything goes back to the fact that the economy is driven by vanity and psychology.
The easiest way to reduce weapon farming would be to allow people to craft their own weapons, much as armor is done. Want a 15^50 chaos? Build one. You may have to farm a bit to get the cash for the rare skinned item. Of course, my idea would destroy the economy and drive people away from the game, but there you have it.
Funny thing about color discrimination is that no one can see what color item you're wielding unless you show them in the trade window! I use a Droks purchased 15^50 max sword with a poisoner's and fortitude mod, and no one is the wiser. And suprisingly, I seem to die less than the tank next to me with his FoW armor, godly chaos axe, and eternal shield. Strange.

The most recent data I have is 41/142 which is 31.68%, which translates to 3.15 bosses per drop.
